What are veneers?

A veneer is a thin shell of porcelain that is bonded to a tooth to improve its color or shape. Veneers cover only the front and top of a tooth. They are specially crafted in a dental lab to fit over your existing teeth. Usually it takes two office visits; on the first visit, the surface of the tooth is prepared by lightly buffing it or shaving it down. A mold of your teeth is taken so that the veneer fits properly and lastly a shade of porcelain that most closely matches the color of your teeth will be selected.
